The Mother's Day playlist just got a fierce new upgrade! In the world of worship tunes, Kim Walker-Smith is more than just a powerhouse voice and a beloved leader; she's also a supermom. Her latest hit, "Mama," cranks up the volume on a side of motherhood that doesn't usually get the spotlight—the Mama Bear mode!

Dropping just in time for Mother's Day, "Mama" bursts onto the scene, fueled by Kim Walker-Smith's deep-seated commitment to her kids and her unshakeable dedication to keeping them safe in today's wild world. Rooted firmly in her faith and family life, Kim shares that the spark for "Mama" hit her during a prayer session—a moment of deep reflection on the mighty job that is parenting. Penned alongside Jessie Early, Hank Bentley, and Mia Fields, Kim touts the tune as a "war cry" for all the mother warriors out there, inspiring them to rise up and embrace their roles with fierce conviction.

Lyrics from the song express this sentiment powerfully:

"I'm the one who sings their lullabies, I'm the one who wipes the tears they cry. I'm Bible reading, Jesus preaching, on the in and outside, but God help you if you ever cross the line," sings Walker-Smith, capturing the dual softness and ferocity of maternal love.

She continues with a rallying call to respect mothers' rights and roles:

"Back off, my babies, you can't replace me. Don't go thinking you know better. I'll do the praying; I'll do the raising, I'll decide what's best because I'm a mama."

I can just picture a bunch of Mamas hitting play on this song for the first time, jumping up, and strutting around the room, belting out, "Back off, my babies!"

Cheers to all the Mama Bears out there. To my mom, Judy, a lioness in her own right who loved fiercely, protected me like a champ, and yes, still throws a protective arm my way even though I'm forty-something, I love you!

Happy Mama Bear Day to all.
