Bible Verses for Father's Day
Fathers are a central theme of the Bible, from God the Father of all creation to our personal fathers raising us as a family. Scripture is clear that fathers are to be honored and respected as they have an obligation to protect and serve their families. It is the role of the father to train and teach his children in the ways of the Lord.
Father's Day is a time to celebrate and honor the important role that fathers play in our lives. The Bible offers many verses that can inspire and encourage fathers on this special day. Here are a few:
Psalm 103:13 - As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
Psalm 127:3-5 - Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Ephesians 6:4 - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Proverbs 23:24 - The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.
Joshua 24:15 - And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Proverbs 20:7 - The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!

I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
